About

The South Bay Literacy Council is a South Bay, Los Angeles-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on teaching people to speak, read, and write English effectively in order to better function in today’s complex society.

Comprised entirely of volunteers, we serve residents of all 18 South Bay cities and communities (Torrance, Lomita, Harbor City, Wilmington, San Pedro, Carson, Gardena, Lawndale, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, and El Segundo) in five learning centers located around the South Bay.

We have been teaching our students for FREE since 1981, and are always looking for volunteers and tutors.
